What We Do

Our “Venture Philanthropy” Approach

We apply what we consider a “venture philanthropy” approach when deciding how to distribute our support.
Our approach is defined by our:

Focus on Results
& Data Driven Orgs

We seek grantees who aim to achieve measurable results whenever possible, grantees who rely heavily on data to evaluation program effectiveness and how their activities help fulfill their mission.

Willingness to Take
Chances

We understand many great organizations need help to get established.  We love working with new organizations that are just starting to gain traction and impacting their community.

Cultivation of Long-term Relationships

We establish long-term relationships with grantees, as missions are typically not short term.  We understand many of the issues nonprofits face and we often adjust our grants to match shifting needs.

Emphasis on Building Capacity

We don't aim for grantees to become dependent on annual giving.  We do hope to help our grantees to use their funds to build capacity and find alternative, sustainable ways to fund their programs.

In 2022 The Klorfine Foundation provided over $4,000,000 of support to organizations in four primary areas.

Arts and Culture

For many years the Klorfines have loved collecting a wide range of art.  As collectors they feel they have an obligation to help cultivate the development of art into the future.

The Klorfine Foundation looks for art centers that are both promoting the art and culture of today as well as those developing the artists of tomorrow.  The Klorfine's personal love for the arts fuels their drive to support the people and organizations that are bringing art and the artist's perspective to our communities.

Past Grantees include:  Palm Beach Symphony, Pilchuck Glass School, Museum of Glass, Artist Trust, Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle Symphony, Kravis Center for the Performing Arts

Community Support & Education

The Klorfine Foundation's community support takes many forms such as access to food to prevent hunger, access to information to promote greater understanding and learning, access to skills and job trainings, etc.

The Klorfine Foundation passion for supporting education started with Len, our founder, and his work as a schoolteacher. By promoting education we aim to help develop young men and women that will become our future leaders.
